31. Oct 2023          Highlight Climathon Stockholm 2023

Climathon Stockholm 2023 - Sets the Stage for Climate Action in Stockholm

We are thrilled to share some highlights and takeaways from our recent Climathon Stockholm 2023!

What an incredible day it was, featuring enlightening presentations on the city's climate aspirations, innovative solutions from startups and scale-up businesses, delightful networking, and inspiring brainstorming sessions.

The entire room is filled with gratitude for the dedication of our guest speakers! A heartfelt thank you to Annika Jacobson (Stockholm City Climate Management Team), Victor Falkenklev (CEO of Folkenklev Logistik AB), Stefan Ytterborn (CEO and Founder of Cake Bike), Eva Blidberg (Expert Marine Litter at Keep Sweden Tidy), Michel Bracké (CEO of A Better Future), for their open conversations with our audience.

We take immense pride in introducing the lineup of innovative startups for the pitch competition, featuring Agteria Biotech, Revive Retail, PANTER, Hollbium, and Vitality Labs. The CEOs Martin Blomberg, Karin Rehnberg, Clara Lidberg, Sabrina Wetterkamp, and Joakim Bjarke passionately shared their visions and solutions aimed at addressing climate change and enhancing human resilience. A big thank you is extended to the esteemed members of the jury Sasan Shaba, Andrew Hennigan, Nils Lange, Gustaf Wilhelm Hellstedt, and Marie-Louise Dahl for their invaluable contributions and diligent assessment.

Through the collective votes of jury members and the audience, a winner prize at a value of 6800 kr went to the Agteria Biotech who offers feed additive to cows with a 92% efficiency reducing methane from burping and farting.

The primary lesson from the event underscores the remarkable power of collaboration in the fight against climate change. It's a compelling reminder that while we've achieved progress in addressing the low-hanging fruits of emission reduction in Stockholm City, the more complex challenges demand collective effort between all different players and the residents.

Led by Gabriela A. Rodriguez, CEO of Impact Hub Stockholm, this collaborative spirit was vividly demonstrated in the Impact Workshop, where two groups of climate enthusiasts passionately brainstormed behavior change campaign ideas aimed at increasing the reuse rate of reusable packages. This marks the exciting commencement of the Climathon mission, firmly establishing its roots in the vibrant city of Stockholm.

A big shoutout to our sponsors and partners, A Better Future AB, Impact Hub Stockholm, Tasting Change, and A Working Lab. A big thank you to our volunteers Daniele Vitali, Sadaf Saeedi Garakani, Nikki Jasmine Scott, Dina Nasretdinova, and Cathy Xiao Chen who made this event possible.

Looking forward to the Climathon Stockholm 2024 already! Stay tuned for updates on upcoming events and more exciting progress.
